We kicked off this series with the best places in the Southtowns to find top-notch beef on weck sandwiches. If you haven't reviewed that list or need a refresher, click here.

Below is a list of some eateries in the Northtowns region of Western New York who serve quality roast beef sandwiches on salty kimmelweck rolls. As always, please pass along your thoughts, comments and of course your own suggestions, especially if your favorite place for beef on weck is not listed here.

Swiston's Beef & Keg

101 Young Street in Tonawanda / (716) 692-9723

I have only eaten at Swiston's once but it was a delightful experience that left me wanting to return sometime in the very near future. Delicious slices of beef served on crisp kimmelweck rolls that are heavy on the salt and seeds, which is my preference. The added bonus is that Swiston's offers unique toppings that most places do not offer as an option, including dill pickles, sweet pickles, cherry tomatoes, peppers and onions. Those are all terrific choices to help you build a one-of-a-kind beef on weck.

Anderson's Frozen Custard

3724 Union Road in Cheektowaga / (716) 681-5464

Anderson's now has seven locations, with my most dining experience taking place in Cheektowaga. Anderson's beef on weck sandwiches are consistently served with melt-in-your-mouth all natural roast beef. My favorite is their barbecue beef, which is a work of art thanks to the meat being lathered in their thick, tangy and lip-smacking sautéed homemade barbecue sauce. Their sesame seed rolls are baked fresh daily and their employees are not shy about piling on the horseradish if you politely ask them to do so.

Brennan's Bowery Bar

4402 Transit Road in Williamsville / (716) 633-9630

Having a friend-of-a-friend work here was an added bonus in compiling this review. My "source" confirms that Brennan's serves only slow roasted certified angus beef top round that is carefully carved and served hot on a fresh and perfectly salted weck roll. One of the perks of eating a beef on weck at Brennan's is the option of substituting for just a small price increase a side of sweet potato fries. A truly delightful meal.

Charlie The Butcher

1065 Wehrle Drive in Williamsville / (716) 633-8330

We all have stories about picking up a family member or friend visiting Western New York from the airport who immediately demands a visit to their favorite chicken wing joint to get their "fix." But how many of you have received a similar request for someone craving a beef on weck? I know I have, which is why I have made more than my fair share of visits to the Charlie The Butcher location on Wehrle Drive, which is approximately one mile from the Buffalo Airport. It is there that you can consume a delicious sandwich with freshly carved meat piled high on a fresh kimmelweck roll. Their beef is always full of flavor and very tender. They strive for perfection with each sandwich they serve and I (and my out-of-town guests) have yet to be disappointed.

The Eagle House Restaurant

5578 Main Street in Williamsville / (716) 632-7669

Simply put, this is a classy place to enjoy a classic sandwich. Eagle House is well known for their hearty comfort food and their beef on weck is one of the best items on their menu. The meat is carefully sliced, extremely tender and juicy. What makes Eagle House's beef on weck truly special it that it is served on a homemade kimmelweck roll that is covered with rock salt and caraway seeds. Definitely a "fancier" type of place to eat such a simple sandwich, as the ambience and décor of this Western New York dining institution add to the overall dining experience.

Crow's Nest Tavern

315 Campbell Boulevard in Getzville / (716) 688-9814

One of Western New York's best kept secrets, they make up what they lack in aesthetically-pleasing exterior and interior décor with outstanding food. Their beef on weck is excellent. You get a huge hunk of freshly sliced meat placed on a properly and perfectly crusted roll that is served with some powerful, sinus-clearing horseradish. It comes with hearty portions of french fries and coleslaw. Belly stuffed. 'Nuff said.

Danny's Restaurant

3715 Genessee Street in Cheektowaga / (716) 634-1780

Another locally owned and operated operation that serves a spectacular beef on weck sandwich. The meat is always tremendously moist and delicious. Both their kimmelweck and kaiser rolls are hearty and always fresh. My recommendation if you dinner at Danny's is to pay the extra two dollars and tell your server to "double the beef." It is well worth it and you will be glad you took my advice.

Mister Dee's Restaurant and Bar

450 Beach Road in Cheektowaga / (716) 634-1298

Beef on weck is Mister Dee's specialty and take my word for it that they take it very seriously. Your server is always very specific about your order since they specifically ask each and every guest if they want their meat served on the sandwich either medium rare, medium or well. Whatever your preference, the beef is hard carved, thin sliced and cooked to order. The kimmelweck rolls are fresh and have a certain crispiness to it that helps each bite of your sandwich literally melt in your mouth. If you have never dined here before, make a point to get there for an experience that will not be forgotten.

The Griffon Gastropub

5445 Transit Road in Clarence / (716) 580-3701

Not only is this a fun place to visit but it is an establishment that has mastered serving a tremendous beef on weck. The sandwich features top round beef that is slow roasted and tender. The meat is sliced quite thin but your receive several carefully folded pieces of beef. I love how they prepare their kimmelweck rolls. Not only are they hot and fresh, the extra step they take that other restaurants may want to consider doing is carefully toasting the roll, helping produce an end result of mouth-watering goodness with each bite.
